With the centuries of Smriti Mandhana and Harmanpreet Kaur, India achieves their best ODI total at home.

Smriti Shriniwas Mandhana

Indian cricket player Smriti Shriniwas Mandhana, who was born on July 18, 1996, plays for the Indian women's national team. She participates in the Women's Premier League (WPL) for Royal Challengers Bangalore. She is a member of the Maharashtra cricket squad in domestic cricket.

Harmanpreet Kaur

Indian cricketer Harmanpreet Kaur, who was born on March 8, 1989, is the captain of the country's women's national squad in all formats. She is a captain and player for the Women's Premier League Mumbai Indians. The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports presented her with the 2017 Arjuna Award for Cricket. She is an all-rounder for the Indian women's cricket squad.

In their 50 overs, Smriti Mandhana and Harmanpeet Kaur contributed to India's enormous 325 run score. The ladies in blue achieved their highest ever total in ODIs at home, surpassing the 298/2 they had set back in 2004 at Dhanbad when the team's top four batters hit half-centuries, thanks to the centuries made by both players.

The hosts lost the toss and had to start very cautiously because the new ball swung quite a bit. However, Shafali Verma and Smriti, the opening pair, did a good job of holding onto their wicket. But despite hitting 20 runs, the former was dismissed by Nonkululeko Mlaba in the twelfth over. Dayalan Hemalatha was equally unsuccessful in turning around her start, managing just 24 runs before being dismissed by the same bowler.

When India reached 100/2 after 23 overs, Harmanpreet Kaur and Mandhana combined, and the two players made a lot of work for South Africa. The visitors bowled poorly at times, giving up whole tosses, and they were also careless in the field. That doesn't lessen the praise for the way India's captain and vice-captain batted, though.

In just 84 ODI innings, Smriti Mandhana equaled Mithali Raj with her eighth century, demonstrating an incredible acceleration of her run-scoring ability. As she put the pressure on the visitors and ended the innings strongly, Kaur was not far behind either. As India passed 300 runs for the first time in home ODIs, she also reached her sixth century in the last over of the innings.
