ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2024
The biennial international competition for women's Twenty20 international cricket is known as the ICC Women's T20 World Cup. The International Cricket Council, which oversees the sport, is in charge of organizing the competition. Its inaugural event took place in England in 2009.The number of competitors was eight for the first three tournaments, but starting with the 2014 event, it was increased to ten. The International Cricket Council (ICC) declared in July 2022 that England will host the 2026 tournament and Bangladesh would host the 2024 event. There will also be twelve teams competing in the 2026 tournament.
The host nation, Bangladesh, will play Scotland at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Thursday, October 3, to kick off the competition, which is being held in the United Arab Emirates.
The ten national captains convened in Dubai to initiate a competition that will conclude in the same location on October 20. Nigar Sultana, the captain of Bangladesh, led the way.
Sultana remarked, "We are really fortunate that we will do something that will help all the fans, families, and friends to get cheered."
In an innovative move, the ICC this year asked each skipper to publicly express their enthusiasm for the competition against the visually arresting backdrop of the Dubai Frame, a representation of the UAE's topography.
India, one of the favorites in Group A, will be looking to win their first ICC World Cup in 2024 after finishing third three times: in the 2020 T20 World Cup, the 2005 and 2017 50-over competitions.
The team led by Harmanpreet Kaur is ranked third in the world going into this competition. They have advanced to at least the semifinals of the previous three ICC Women's T20 World Cups.
The two host cities, Dubai and Sharjah, will host 23 matches during the course of 18 days for the World Cup.
